Obituary

It is with great sadness that we report the death of our beloved family member, Adela Tenbroeck, at the age of 80.

Adela was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After graduating from high school, she attended St. Joseph’s College, where she earned her degree in education. She spent 25 years teaching elementary school in Albuquerque. She married her high school sweetheart, Larry Tenbroeck, who was also an elementary school teacher. They loved their students and kept in touch with many of them throughout their lives.

Adela was the most giving person you could ever hope to meet. She was a caregiver for her father, for Larry’s aunt, his mother, and also for Larry.

After the passing of her husband, she moved to Lompoc, CA, to be near her family. With her bubbly personality, she made friends easily. She was very creative and made handmade birthday cards, as well as beautiful quilts, which she shared with family, friends, and charities. She had a huge heart and loved helping people.

Adela was preceded in death by her parents, Fidel and Anna Maria Barreras, her brother Fidel Barreras, her half-brother Thomas Marez, her half-sister Alice Duran, and her nephew, Anthony Barreras. She is survived by her brother, Albert Barreraz (Joyce), her sister-in-law, Linda Barreras, her nephews, Rick Barreraz, Mike Barreraz (Gerlie), and Andy Barreras (Kim), her niece, Teresa Howell (Tim), and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.

Services for Adela will be held Saturday, May 30, at 12:00 p.m. at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A St., Lompoc, CA, followed by a reception at Events Mission Valley, 138 North B St., Lompoc, CA. Her final resting place will be Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque, next to her husband, Larry.
