In the early hours of the morning on June 16, 2017 Adolfo Vargas Sr passed away peacefully in his sleep with his beloved pet Terra at his side.

They returned to Los Angeles where he worked for Madson Range, and then once again relocated back to Lompoc to start and raise a family. He then became employed by the City of Lompoc in Parks & Rec. Adolfo was instrumental in bringing the idea of the children's spring held ride-on critters to Ryan and Thompson park, which he had seen at other parks while living in the Los Angeles area.

Adolfo had a love for fishing where he spent many of his early years. He also enjoyed camping, sharing stories about his life aboard the USS Hancock, and the many 4th of July Birthday celebrations held each year in his honor. He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Florence Vargas, wife Angie Cruz-Vargas, grandson Bryan Vargas and great-granddaughter Andrea Nicole Bracamontes.
