Albert O. Brackin, Jr., beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2019.  Family and friends left behind rejoice that his sufferings are over and that he is celebrating with family and friends in heaven but we are missing him deeply.

Al was born on January 7, 1931 in Alabama to Albert and Ada Brackin and is one of six children.  Al worked on the family farm until joining the U. S. Air Force.  In 1953 Al married long-time sweetheart Mary Coskrey and the happy young couple began their married life in Texas where Al was stationed at Webb Air Force Base.  Al and Mary were stationed at numerous bases both abroad and at home.

In 1969 the family moved to Vandenberg Air Force Base where Al worked in the legal department and Mary was an educator at Vandenberg Junior High/Middle School.  Al retired as a chief Master Sergeant in 1974 after 26 years of service which included a tour of duty in Vietnam and he worked his way up to project manager at Martin-Marietta, earning a Bachelor's and Master's Degree during that time.  After retiring from the aerospace industry and Mary from Lompoc United School Distric, the pair loved RVing and spending time with their grandchildren.  Both were very involved in several local Baptist churches serving in a number of capacities.

Al is survived by his devoted wife Mary, two brothers, a sister, three children and their spouses, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Vandenberg Village on Monday June 3 at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception.  In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations be made to the Lompoc Comprehensive Care Center.
