Albert A. Roy, 78, of Lompoc, a kind and loving man, died peacefully Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. Roy was born October 21, 1932 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He married Doris Boutin in 1952. In 1958, he relocated to Vandenberg Air Force Base while serving in the military and worked on the Atlas program. He retired from the air force in 1971 with 22 years of dedicated service. Roy graduated with a Bachelor of Art's degree in 1976 from La Verne College. As an electronic engineer, he worked for Raytheon in the development of micro-antennas and retired in 1991.
He is survived by his loving wife Doris of 59 years; two daughters Shirley of Phoenix, Arizona and Sheila of Lompoc; grandchildren Roy, Kurt, Daniel Michael, Angela Castle, and Amanda Higham all of Phoenix, Bryan Higham of Jacksonville, Florida, Adrain, Cody Amaya and Mason Snyder of Lompoc; great-grandchildren Harleigh, Marti, Cassy Castle all of Phoenix and Sophie Amaya of Lompoc; brother and sister in law Ernest and Lorraine Bergevin; nephew Paul Lemay, all of Manchester, New Hampshire.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation hours will be 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
