Alexa Rae Olivera died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the sweet age of 16.
Alexa was born February 8, 1995 in Lompoc to Jeffrey and Deanne Olivera. She attended local schools and was currently enrolled as a junior at Cabrillo High School where she loved belonging to Cabrillo water polo and swimming. She was part of the Junior Lifeguards program with the California State Beach Department. She was a born cheerleader and spoke out when she felt it was necessary. She took pictures as a child and never quit composing. She would write and draw for days and never questioned her self-expression. She always read and was a disciple of knowledge and truth. She would fish with her father and cook vegan dishes with her mother.
Our darling Alexa was the light in all of us, a light that could never die. Alexa lived a thousand lives, and to say it simply she loved life. She was a fighter and a determined soul. She loved people and made friends everywhere she went. She loved animals so much that she refused to eat them. She loved plants. They gave her strength and she surrounded herself with mother earth's beautiful flowers.
In addition to her parents Alexa is survived by her brothers Nathaniel and Zachary, her grandparents Jim and Joan Olivera, George and Beverly Williams and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The visitation will be from 4-8pm on Friday, September 2, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The memorial service will be on Saturday, September 3, at 3 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 3355 Constalation Road in Vandenberg Village. Private interment will be in the Lompoc Cemetery
