Alfonso Jose Chavez, Jr.
Born February 13, 1963 to Alfonso Chavez, Sr. and Irene Poe. He was born, raised and educated in Lompoc. He graduated in 1981. Alfonso was a roofer by trade.
He was a true storyteller and artist. He enjoyed barbequing, listening to Spanish music and spending time with his wife and children. He passed away Thursday December 10, 2009 at his home surrounded by his wife and children.
Alfonso is survived by his wife Tanya, daughters Chrystal, little Tanya, Gracie and Serenity Chavez all of Lompoc and Mary Smith of Fairfield, sons Byron, Andrew, Cameron and Braxton Smith all of Lompoc, grandson Jarod Lopez, his mother Teresa Chavez, sister and her husband Maria and Jose Medina, sisters Carmen Chavez, Charlene Hernandez, Terri Hernandez, sister and her husband Julia and Antonio Mendez, brother and his wife Miguel and Ofelia Chavez, brothers Gerardo Chavez and Jerry Chavez, numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Helen Perez and Ollie Chavez. He was preceded in death by Alfonso Chavez, Sr. and Irene Poe Barragan.
The recitation of the rosary will be a 7pm, Wednesday, December 16, in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Father Tom Cook will celebrate the mass of Christian burial will at 10 am on Thursday, December 17, at La Purisima Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
