IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alfredo "Freddy"
Gonzales
May 10, 1965 – April 22, 2024
Alfredo "Freddy" Gonzales passed away on April 22nd, 2024. He was born and raised in Lompoc, California to Frances and Carlos Gonzalez. He was one of 15 children.
Freddy had one daughter, Malia, and devoted his life to raising her on his own. They shared an incredible bond that will never be broken. While he raised Malia, he never missed a school field trip, dance competition, or softball tournament. He was incredibly proud of her and taught her many valuable lessons to carry on to her children. He was proud of his grandsons, Julian, Isaac, and Milo and enjoyed playing Jenga, chess, baseball, and basketball with them while making sure to have his freezer stocked with popsicles.
He enjoyed spending his time fishing and camping with his many brothers and nephews. Freddy was an incredibly kind and generous man who helped many people without expecting anything in return. He was a genuine and direct man that often made people laugh because he wasn't afraid to say whatever was on his mind.
Freddy worked as a maintenance mechanic for Celite Corporation for 21 years before medically retiring. After retirement, he kept busy by working on his boats, fishing, doing upholstery work, attending Dodger games, and spending time with his beloved grandsons and family.
Freddy will be greatly missed by his large family and network of lifelong friends. The impact of his generous and helping heart and the many life lessons he taught his loved ones will carry on his legacy.
He is survived by his daughter Malia (Julian) Mondragon; grandsons Julian, Isaac, and Milo Mondragon; brothers Benny (Annette) Gonzales, Jesse Gonzales, Carlos (Rita) Gonzalez; sisters Rebecca (Larry) Jacinto, Evelyn (Luis) Garcia, Carol Gutierrez, Maria (Luis) Benitez, Rosa (Jeff) Ray, Frances (Oscar) Rojas; long-time partner Lola Moreno; and 45 nieces and nephews.
Freddy is preceded in death by his parents Frances and Carlos Gonzalez; brothers Arnulfo Gonzales, Willie Gonzales, David Gonzales, Ernie Gonzales; sister Cathy Martinez, and nieces Michelle Jacinto and Angela Barajas.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 2nd from 4:00-8:00 PM at Starbuck Lind Mortuary with a rosary at 6:30 PM. A funeral mass will be held at La Purisima Church on Friday May 3rd at 10:00 AM followed by a processional to Lompoc Cemetery. Celebration of life to follow.
