Alice Shirley Henkel of Lompoc, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the age of 81.
Alice was born August 18, 1928, to Bernard and Minnie Eilts in Gladstone, Nebraska. She married DeWayne Henkel on June 30, 1946 in Washington, Kansas. She was a seamstress and worked as a dry cleaner since 1955. She and her husband moved to Lompoc in 1972, and owned and operated Stillman's Cleaners until 1986.
Alice is survived by her sisters Bernice Melander of Alta, Iowa and Helen Schoenrock of Fairbury, Nebraska, numerous nieces and nephews including Harry Henkel, Jr. of Lompoc and Linda Lavoie of Maine. Her husband DeWayne preceded her in death in 2000.
The memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Carleton City Cemetery in Carleton, Nebraska. The arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
