Allen Dale Overton of Lompoc died Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at the age of 75.
Allen was born June 12, 1934, in Kalispell, Montana, to Lloyd and Ester Overton. After graduating from Kalispell High School, he served his country in the United States Army.
Allen rode bulls on the rodeo circuit as a young man. After settling in Lompoc in 1964, He worked for many years at Perry's Auto Wrecking and recently worked for the Lompoc School District. He became an active member of Saint Timothy's Antiochian Church in 1983. He started and was the president of the Lompoc Valley Community Kitchen, which has served meals to those in need for many years. It was his greatest wish that the LVCK continue after his death.
Allen is survived by his son Dean Overton, daughter-in-law Lorrain of Lompoc, son Randy Overton of Lompoc, three grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. The tenth of eleven children, he is also survived by his sister Darlene Pearl Grey of Hood River, Washington, brother Vearl Overton of Portland, Oregon, and his sister Carol Massey of Montana.
The visitation will start at 7 pm, Wednesday, September 30, and conclude at 7 am Thursday, October 1, at Saint Timothy's Antiochian Church at the corner of J Street and Laurel. The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 1, at 1 pm, also at the church. Interment will be in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery with a reception to follow back at the church.
