ALLYN LEE HARTNELL
1937-2008
Lompoc native Allyn Lee Hartnell died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the age of 71.
Allyn was born in Lompoc January 10, 1937, to Joseph and Dorothy Hartnell, descendants of the pioneer Wakefield, Schuler and Hartnell families of Lompoc and Santa Maria. After graduating from Lompoc High School in 1955, he joined the United States Air Force. He completed his 22 years of service as an aircraft mechanic at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base in South Carolina.
Allyn is a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed working on the barbeque teams at many of their events.
Allyn is survived by his sons Joseph Hartnell of Lompoc and Richard Hartnell of New Mexico, daughter Laura Anne Hartnell of New Mexico, sisters Marjorie Stoutenburgh of Oregon, Marylin Davison of Santa Maria and Cindy Kuhn of New Mexico, brothers Andrew Kuhn of Ventura, Steven Kuhn of Lompoc and George Kuhn of Medford, Oregon and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 636 North H Street in Lompoc. Interment will be at a later date in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
