Memorial services for Alvina P. Coleman, 89, of Lompoc will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John Fitzgerald officiating. Private burial will be at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
Alvina was born January 11, 1920 in Tulare, California to Manuel and Josephine Picanco. She attended local schools in Tulare and graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1937. Alvina moved to Lompoc in 1967 with her husband and daughter during his service with the U.S. Air Force. She enjoyed traveling during his career, and especially like their tour of duty in Japan. For over 25 years, she worked and dedicated herself to assisting and helping others with homecare. She was also a longtime homemaker and member of the Catholic Church.
She died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Lodge of Lompoc.
Survivors include her daughter, Denise Alexander of Santa Barbara; sister, Marjorie Felipe and husband Joseph of Lemoore, Calif.; granddaughter, Cynde Boller and husband Rick of Carpinteria; great-grandchildren, Austin and Nicholas Boller; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William in 1978, brothers, Joseph, Arthur, Walter, and Manuel Picanco Jr., and sisters, Mary Vital, Dolores Pedroncelli and Josephine Picanco.
