Amalie Busch Wolfe of Lompoc passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the age of 99. She was 38 days short of her 100th birthday.
Mollie was born September 2, 1906 to Jacob and Marie Busch in Dietel, Russia. Her German speaking parents immigrated to the United States when she was six months old and settled in Weld County, Colorado. In 1925 she married Jacob Wolfe and together they farmed in Weld County including near Pierce, Colorado. Her days were spent cooking and canning for her family. Mollie was an extra-ordinary person who lived life to the fullest. Her family was her life. She learned to use a microwave oven and a bread-making machine at the age of 85. After Jacob's death in 1993 she moved to California.
Mollie is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Schuler of Lompoc, Beverly Grafel of Palmer, Alaska and Judith Whicker of Belleville, Illinois; sons Jacob C. Wolfe, Jr. of Mesquite, Arizona and Chester Wolfe of Henderson, Nevada; 20 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Don Wolfe in 1996 and Edwin Wolfe in 1998. She is also survived by two sisters.
The memorial service was held on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Reverend Ehrhardt Lang officiated. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
