AMPARO VALDIVIESO LYNCH
M. Amparo Valdivieso Lynch passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 13, 2010. Born October 30, 1943 in Piura, Peru to Angel Elias Valdivieso Benites and Manuela Cevallos Timoteo. She grew up in Piura, Peru and came to the United States in January 1962 to attend college.
Amparo graduated from Fresno City College with an Associate's Degree in 1966. She then continued her education at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo studying architecture. She married Michael Lynch in 1969 and moved to Lompoc in 1971. After having her two daughters, she returned to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and received her teaching credential in 1980 and later received certificates in; Language & Culture, emphasis in Spanish in 1981 and Montessori in 1983. She taught elementary school for many years, before returning to school to receive a Master's Degree in Special Education and Resource Specialist Certificate from Cal Lutheran University in 1995. She continued to work for the Lompoc Unified School district, until her retirement after 24 years of service.
Amparo is survived by daughters Michelle (Erik) Ricardo of Lake Arrowhead, California and Patricia (Travis) Henry of Lompoc; grandsons August Ricardo, Hayden and Austin Henry; her mother, Manuela Valdivieso of Mexico City, Mexico; sister Gloria Houser of Sun Lakes, Arizona; brother Alex Valdivieso of Lompoc and sister Marcela Valdivieso of Mexico City, Mexico; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Amparo wrote in her memoirs "I consider myself blessed in many ways…I have learned many things through the course of my life… Each experience serves a purpose and can teach us something, even if we are not aware at the time. Learning is a life process, we are constantly learning from every human being we come in contact with. I believe we alone have the power of making our life rich and meaningful. It's up to each one of us."
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lompoc Artificial Kidney Center in Amparo's name. A funeral mass for Amparo will be held at Queen of Angels Catholic Church Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 9 am. Arrangements are under the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
