Obituary

Angela Bignardi Guerra passed away July 22 in Lexington KY. She was born in Santa Maria, CA on April 28, 1931. She was predeceased by her parents Mary and Elvezio Bignardi and her husband Michael Guerra. She is survived by her son Michael Sekela (Sheila), stepson Michael Guerra (Beverly), grandchildren Jamie Guerra (Ashley), Laura Sheard (Michael), Mary Beth Sekela (Phil), Jonathan Sekela, and sister Nancy Davis (Bob).

Angie grew up happily in Santa Maria. She moved to Lompoc with her husband and children in 1959, and soon after went to work at Lompoc Valley Medical Center. There Angie became something of an institution, working in bookkeeping and payroll for nearly 60 years. The hospital and La Purisima Catholic Church, where she was an usher, were her life.

Angie loved living things; she and her husband especially enjoyed the birds they cared for in their aviary and her yard full of flowers and fruit trees. She was kind to everyone and she was truly loved for her faithfulness, generosity, willingness to help anyone who needed help, and her beautiful crocheted items that she gave to new babies of family and friends and donated to church and community fundraisers. She will be sorely missed by everyone who was blessed to know her.

Visitation will be Monday evening August 1, from 4-7pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.  The mass of Christian burial will be Monday, August 2, at 10am at La Purisima Catholic Church followed by burial in the Lompoc Cemetery.
