Obituary

Ann Johnson, 99, passed away quietly at her home in Vandenberg Village on Saturday, January 14, 2017.

She was born Andrea Ramirez in San Gaspar, Mexico on November 10, 1917 and moved to the United States during the Mexican Revolution in 1926.

Ann was proud to be a "Rosie the Riveter". She worked at the Kaiser Shipyards in Richmond, California welding ships during WWII. Later, she owned and operated the Personality Beauty Salon in Richmond, California and San Luis Obispo. She retired and moved to Lompoc in 1965 with her husband, Warren Johnson, who preceded her in death.

Ann is survived by her sister, Mary Fragoso of Martinez; her children Joyce Croker of La Habra, Dr. Paul Johnson of Seattle and Patricia Fabing of Lompoc. She also leaves four grandsons and two great-grandsons.

Ann enjoyed her family, watching historical documentaries/shows, and traveling. Her interests led her to become the family historian.

The family will receive friends and family at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 pm. There will be a reception following at a to be determined site.

Donations to Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historic Park may be made in lieu of flowers.
