Obituary

Anthony William-Courtway Pulliam

At only 20 years old, Anthony Pulliam lived a life that honored God and encouraged others to seek Him in a way that most people don't even accomplish in a lifetime. We will miss him dearly and are looking forward to our reunion at the tree of life when we get to Heaven. Anthony left us on November 28, 2008, following a lifelong illness. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.

Although Anthony's illness made him appear frail, he possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He enjoyed music, sleeping late, Scooby-Doo, and of course, anything Spiderman. He loved playing practical jokes on his family, friends and school mates whose laughter (or groans) would make him smile.

Anthony's life will seem too short to many, but those whom he touched understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him and though he rarely spoke with words, his voice and thoughts could always be heard. With Anthony's death we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his winning smile. He will forever remain in our hearts. Through his teachings about life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be his parents.

Anthony leaves behind many wonderful people that provided love and support that enhanced his quality of life. There is a special place in our hearts for Anthony's doctor, Cindy Blifeld. Because of her continual dedication, love and support, Anthony was able to survive some of his toughest medical challenges. He will be dearly missed by all his special caregivers at Marian Hospice, CCS and his teacher, aides and also his bus driver from his attendance at Santa Ynez High School, who provided Anthony with love and dignity in his life and also in his death.

Anthony is survived by his loving parents, Cathy and Todd Dale, of Buellton; sisters-Lori Pulliam & Taylor Dale; Brother-James Pulliam; Niece-Cadence Pulliam; maternal grandmother, Lena Oxendine of Lompoc
