IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anthony (Tony)
Richard Machado Jr.
June 22, 1950 – December 20, 2025
It is with broken hearts that we said goodbye on December 20th to Tony Jr, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. We lost him too soon, but he was doing what he loved most- fishing at Jalama Beach.
Born and raised in Lompoc, California, on June 22, 1950, Tony was the son of Tony Machado Sr. and Virginia Bettencourt. He graduated from Lompoc High School in 1968, where he was an active member of FFA, raising Angus beef, and was awarded the title of California State Farmer.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Ruiz), his son Anthony (Tony) III, Belinda, and grandchildren London and Nixon, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his sisters Ardeane Eckert (Rodney) and Peggi Arnold, numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, and an extended family who will miss him dearly
Tony began his career in 1972 with Coastal Ag Chemical, pulling and delivering ball tanks while building relationships with growers. He retired after 48 years of dedicated service as Operations Manager with Crop Production Service (Nutrien). Tony deeply loved his work, his coworkers, and the agriculture business, especially working with ranchers and growers.
Tony and Marilyn enjoyed countless days and weeks at their vacation home at Heritage Ranch, Nacimiento Lake, since 1980. In the early years, they spent time towing the kids on skis, boogie boards, and tubes. In later years, they enjoyed floating on their patio boat and fishing all day. When not at home or at the lake, they traveled throughout California and neighboring states in their travel trailer. If there was water- lakes, oceans, or streams, and a chance to fish, they were there. Jalama Beach became their home base for camping, fishing, and barbecuing with family and friends.
Another of Tony's passions was his beloved 1955 Chevy. He enjoyed taking it out for cruise nights, car shows, or simply for a drive.
Sometimes life is cut too short, just when it seems to be cruising along. Cherish your loved ones, kiss and hug them, and hold them close, for you never know what the future holds.
A memorial celebration of Tony's life is pending at this time.
Memorial donation may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
