Arlene F. Bancroft-Billings of Lompoc died Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the age of 72.
Arlene was born September 8, 1936 to Paul and Frances Targonski in Bridgeport, Connecticut. As the wife of a United States Air Force serviceman she made her home in various parts of the country and Spain. Formerly of Oklahoma she has been a resident of Lompoc since 1969.
Arlene was a bartender at the American Legion Post 211 for almost 20 years. She worked at the service desk for Wal-Mart for five years before her retirement in 2003.
Arlene was warm hearted and loving. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was playing poker with "the golden girls" poker club. Each year she looked forward to the Lompoc Flower Festival where she had a reserved seat for all of the music venues.
Arlene is survived by her daughters Donna Anderson of Lompoc, Elizabeth Weir of Lompoc, and Gail Harold and her husband Rick of Paso Robles, son Frank Bancroft-Billings of Lompoc, sister Pauline Lawrence of Bridgeport, Connecticut, brother Paul Targonski of Stewart, Florida, 11 grandchildren, Kristy, Chris, Matt, Tim, Gus, Jamee, Kim, Joey, Amanda, Jacob and Haley, four great grandchildren, Mercedes, Tyler, Julian and Adrian.
The graveside funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Please wear you best Hawaiian attire. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
