IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Aubrey "Jack"
Churchman, Jr.
March 2, 1920 – March 20, 2022
102 years ago, Jack was born in Moline Kansas to Aubrey J. and Naomi B. (Bone) Churchman.
Jack passed peacefully at home with family members. He will be laid to rest beside his wife of 62 years, Marianne H. Churchman (passed-2011). Jack leaves behind his children Thomas (Paula) Churchman, Gary Churchman, Ronald (Cathy) Churchman, Randall (Jo Ann) Churchman, Sandra (Churchman) Peterson, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Jack's family made several trips from Kansas to California in the early 1920s, eventually settling in the Los Angeles area where he graduated high school and went to work with the Douglas Aircraft Company.
Jack enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served during WWII as a C47 and C46 pilot. His missions consisted of moving troops, evacuating the wounded, dropping supplies, and transporting USO performers. After serving, Jack's work took his growing family to Washington State, Arizona, New Mexico, Florida, Colorado, and California.
Jack lived in the Lompoc area for more than forty-five years. After retiring, one of his hobbies was writing short stories about his life experiences and the time he thoroughly enjoyed while in service.
Jack took great pride in his work, home and family. He was generous in every way. He viewed the world hopefully and positively. In any situation, he was always looking forward to something.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2021, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary from 3-7 p.m. Private graveside service.
