Obituary

Born in Emmett Kansas, Tina passed away on January 25, 2008, at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California. Most beloved mother of Patricia (Jeffrey) VanBrusselen, Margaret Martinez, Jon (Christine) Martinez, and Marisa (David) Brown. She is survived by her beloved sisters, Marie Delores DeLeo and Rita Garcia, and brothers, Benedict John, Patrick D., Bernede, and Raymond Garcia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie R. and father, Benito Garcia, two sisters and five brothers.

Beloved grandmother of Carol Rodriguez, Jason VanBrusselen, Marie and Amelia White, Christina, Melissa, and Philip Martinez, and great grandmother of Erik and Ashton Benton. Her extended family included twelve step-grandchildren.

Tina moved to the Lompoc Valley in December 1965 from Berlin, Germany. She was a longtime parishioner and faithful servant of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, a member of the Parish and Finance Councils, Team Captain for Feed the Hungry, Chairperson for the Hospitality Committee, Garage and White Elephant Sales, and she participated in Eucharistic Adoration and Renew. Tina was greatly involved with the Parish Harvest Festival, Cinco de Mayo, Spanish Choir, and other church activities.

Tina served with distinction on the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce, was a member of the Lompoc Valley Board of Realtors, and was involved with Lompoc Catholic Charities and the Food Pantry program.

Tina retired from Lockheed/Martin-Marietta, upon which time she joined the real estate group of Century 21 Armstrong Realty.

In her spare time, Tina enjoyed the company of her family, travel, jazz festivals, serving her local parish, and community involvement.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29th at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, with Vigil Service at 5:00 PM. Mass will be at Queen of Angels Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 30th at 10:00 AM, followed by Burial at Lompoc Cemetery. Reception will follow at Queen of Angels Parish Hall.
