Obituary

Augustina (Tina) Rains, 68, passed away November 21, 2016, with her family by her side in Lompoc, California. She was born December 11, 1947, in Lompoc, California, to Porfirio and Carmen Terrones.

Tina's life was filled with comedy and passion. She "never" complained and even through her years of battling cancer, her family was always her main concern. Even in her final days, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her focus and this selfless manner was not a surprise to anyone who knew her.

Tina will always be remembered for her strong and entertaining personality, which her late husband Jerry Rains would attest could fill a room even with her "ballerina" stature that he would tell her in jest. She was the type of person who when you were having a "bad day", would brighten it with a phrase or interaction that would make you forget about your problems, or at least have a good laugh to where they wouldn't matter. She was one of a kind and although she was small in stature, her imprint on this planet was big and bold. God certainly broke the mold when creating Tina Rains.

She has left a lasting impression with everyone she met and will continue to leave a positive impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. The memories she has created with all of her family and friends cannot be forgotten, for they are impactful, moving, and many.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will continue to come together and carry on their support for each other as this foundation of family is something Tina instilled in them and we all know that what Tina Rains wanted we couldn't help but listen and follow.

Tina will always be that petite, brave, humorous woman who could hold her own; stared cancer in the face and took it on, laughed during the struggles, surrounded herself with her family while fighting off the illness and even at the end, never, ever took a step back.

Tina is survived by her daughter Tanya; grandson Jason Rodriguez; granddaughters Crystal Chavez, Teena and Gabrielle Buantello, and Jessica Solorio (Buantello), and many other grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Antonia Mondragon, Janie Hardeman, Judy Hernandez, and Nancy Razo; brothers Porfirio Jr., Manuel, Carlos, Gabriel, Fidel, and Joe; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Rains; daughter Gina Villalobos; parents Porfirio and Carmen Terrones; brothers Richard, Bernardino, Fernando, and Luciano; and sister Rosemary Razo.

The family would like to extend a special thank you and appreciation for Dr. Newman of Sansum Clinic, Oncology Department, and his staff's efforts towards treating and comforting Tina through her battle. Dr. Newman spent much time with Tina through her many years of battling cancer and his passion and care for her throughout the years has been nothing but compassionate. Her family would also like to thank Frances Chill and her BUNCO friends, as well as Jack Chill for their years of friendship and comfort, while creating many memories with her, which we know she loved and enjoyed.

A visitation will take place Sunday, November 27, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A Rosary will follow at La Purisima Catholic Church at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held Monday, November 28, at 10 a.m. at La Purisima Catholic Church.
