At her request, no services will be held for Barbara Barritt, 76, of Lompoc.
Barbara was born October 7, 1931 in Bromsgrove, England to Charles and Violet Hodgkiss Nicklin. As a young girl, she lived through the hostility England endured during World War II. In 1955, she married Delmer Barritt during his service in England with United States Air Force. They moved to his next duty station in Roswell, New Mexico and finally to Lompoc in 1967. She loved raising her family and was proud to receive her U.S. citizenship in 1962. Her favorite pastimes included gardening for which she received numerous awards and homemaking.
She died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at home with family by her side.
Survivors include husband, Delmer Barritt; son, Dell Barritt; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Wayne Lisonbee; daughter and son-in-law, Deniece and Donald Souza; son and daughter-in-law, Ver and Trena Barritt; daughter, Patriece Mendek; grandchildren, Kylynne and Krystynne Barritt, Amy and Sarah Lisonbee, Dawn Brown, Kristopher Souza, Kraig and Julie Barritt, Cody and Heather Smith, Amber, Barbara, Micheal, and Cara Mendek; sister, Margaret Brazier and brother, Geoffrey Nicklin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Violet Nicklin.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to a charity of choice.
