Barbara J. Conley, 62, surrounded by family. left this earth and entered into everlasting life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 28, 2017. She passed away after a brief illness.
Betty and Lyle Field were blessed with the birth of their second child and only daughter, Barbara, in Vancouver, Washington, on April 29, 1954. She grew up in Oregon and then in Selma, California, graduating from Selma High School.
Barbara's first job was as a line girl, picking off the bad peaches, for the Del Monte Canning Company in Fowler, California. She also worked as a secretary for the Cathedral of Light in Southern California, before moving to Lompoc. She worked at Bright Beginnings Pre-School so she could be around her granddaughters.
Barbara and Doug moved to Lompoc in 1982. She fully embraced the life of a pastor's wife. She was a worship leader and a piano teacher to numerous people in the community. Her famous "parting words" to people were "What is God saying?" She was the epitome of gentleness and kindness. She showed those traits to all who met her. She always looked for the best in people.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Doug, her son Jeremy and daughter-in-law Jessica, four granddaughters, Caylin, Brielle, Addyson, and Zoey, all of Phoenix, Arizona, brothers David (Lynn) Field of Pismo Beach, Paul (Lorna) Field of Selma, and Phillip (Benita) of Visalia, all of California. Barbara also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews as well as friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by Baby Girl Conley in 1979 and her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 11 am at Generations United located at North Ave. and Seventh St., Lompoc. Following the services will be a reception at Taco Roco, located at Barton Ave. and H St. Barbara requested that no one wear black clothing as she wanted the service to be one of joy and happiness as her death meant she was home with her Lord.
