Barbara R. Stillman entered into eternal life on October 29, 2009. She was born in Los Angles, raised in Fillmore, California and graduated from Fillmore High School in 1938. After moving to Santa Barbara, she graduated from Santa Barbara Business College.
In 1951 she began her career with the County of Santa Barbara, serving in the Veterans Service Office in Santa Barbara until 1958. She then went to work for the Santa Barbara Probation Department.
While in Santa Barbara she served for five years as treasurer of the Employee's Association, and was also an active member of the Sheriff's Safety Patrol. In 1958 Barbara married Clinton Stillman and moved to Lompoc, Calif. In 1959 she returned to the Probation Dept., and in 1973 was the recipient of the Probation Dept Award for the Most Outstanding Clerical Employee.
Barbara was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West and in 1953 portrayed St. Barbara during Old Spanish Day's. At the time of her retirement in 1974 she had served a total of twenty-three years with the County of Santa Barbara.
Barbara loved entertaining, collecting recipes, and sharing them with her many friends.
Preceding her in death were her loving husband of thirty-three years, Clinton, mother and father, Dovie and Robert Hall, and brother Robert.
A visitation will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Tuesday, November 3 from 2 to 4pm. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday, November 4 at 10 am at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Steve Petty presiding. Private internment will take place at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
