Barbara Lee Truman 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Lompoc Friday Nov. 18 2011.
Barbara (Babs, Bobbie, and Lee) was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Burnham Burnie) Truman, her daughter Victoria S. Truman-Bates and grandson Dorian C. Smith. Surviving Family members include: son Barney Lee Truman, his wife Jeanne of Lompoc, and their two daughters Shelly and Suzanne, son Dale H. Truman, his wife Gwen of Tacoma Washington, their two daughters Melissa and Sarah, Victoria's two children Sean and Krista, daughter Jennifer and husband Frank Kostic of Lompoc and Port Orchard Washington and their two Children Jacob and Portia. Barbara was proud to have seven great grandchildren.
Barbara was born in El Centro, California in 1921, and lived in California most of her life. When Babs and Burnie were wed in 1944 they traveled the United States in service to their country. All of Barbara's four children were born in different locations.
She moved the family back home to California in 1961. She worked for the Air Force for 20 years and retired in 1982. She was very active with square and round dance with the Rocking Squares in Lompoc and other groups in the 90's. They also had a home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Barbara loved to visit family and other dance clubs as they traveled in their motor home across the United States.
The family gathered to celebrate Mother's 90th Birthday Oct. 13 2011. Family and Friends will gather in Lompoc to honor Barbara's life Dec. 9th.
