IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Benjamin Michael
Fisher
August 30, 1930 – May 23, 2014
Benjamin Michael Fisher was born in Rawlins, Wyoming to Aurelia Martinez and Defido Fisher on August 30, 1930. Known as Ben, he was the fifth of ten children. His siblings were Alfred, Elizabeth, Robert, Floyd, Daniel, (all deceased) and Mabel, Mary, Edna, and Frank.
Ben's father was a shepherd for many years so his mother had the major burden of raising the family by herself most of the time. At age six Ben became a street urchin. He made a living selling papers, shining shoes, and selling candy to the WWII troops that passed through Rawlins on troop trains. At age 15 Ben decided to go to Fr Flanagan's Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska. While in boys town Ben began boxing and was part of the Boys Town choir which traveled and sang in major facilities such as Carnige Hall. He graduated cum-laud from Boys Town in 1949.Visits: 0
