Bernardo Dollete Jamorabo was born August 14, 1954 in Quezon City, Philippines. He was the third child of Gerardo and Magdalena Jamorabo. He was educated in Manila, beginning in grade school through graduation from Arellano University.
After graduation, Bernardo married his high school sweetheart Haydee Estioko on April 13, 1976, and worked security for a stock exchange company. In September of 1977, Bernardo and Haydee celebrated the birth of their first daughter, Grace. A second daughter, Stephanie, was born in December of 1982.
Bernardo immigrated to the United States in 1980, joining his family who were already living here. He immediately joined the U.S. Air Force in December of 1980, starting a 22-year career serving this country.
Upon completing basic training in 1981, it was off to Plattsburgh Air Force Base in New York where he remained stationed until 1992.
In 1992, Bernardo left New York and transferred to Cannon Air Force Base in the eastern plains of New Mexico, where his family joined him in July of 1993. He stayed in Clovis, NM at Cannon until August 1996, when he transferred to Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. He finished his career at Vandenberg, retiring in 2002. That same year, he began a second career in civil service, working as a program manager until his death.
Bernardo's family referred to him as Tots, although he wanted his nieces and nephews to refer to him at "Tito Tots Pogi". His friends called him Bernie. Whatever he was called, he was always the life of the party. His family was his top priority followed by friends. He was always willing to help whenever there was a need. While stationed at Cannon AFB, he was involved with the Asian Pacific Club on base and was elected president for one year. Then, when he moved to Vandenberg AFB, he was involved with the local Filipino Community and their activities. He was also involved at the base church until he retired.
He loved eating and drinking. At any family gathering, you would find him manning the grill. He was well known for his amazing barbeque; tri-tip being his specialty.
To relax, Bernardo would either go wine tasting or play golf. Always something he loved to do with his friends. You would find him on the fairway at least twice a month (if not more) because he loved being outdoors and it was great exercise.
Next to Haydee, Bernardo's four grandchildren where the light of his life. He was always wanting to do one thing after another with them. They may have worn him out, but he didn't care. He loved them.
Bernardo is survived by his wife, Haydee Estioko Jamorabo; his daughters, Grace Weber and Stephanie Lupo; sons-in-laws Brian Weber and Jeff Lupo; and granddaughters Autumn Weber, Trysten Weber, Maya Lupo and Alison Lupo. He is also survived by his brothers Leonardo, Gerardo Jr. and Raymundo, along with their wives and children. He also has many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly and many of whom he was close to through adulthood.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gerardo P. Jamorabo; mother, Magdalena D. Jamorabo; sister, Esther Magat; and brother, Gregorio Jamorabo.
No matter how you knew Bernardo, he was loved by all. Through the ups and downs of life, God was always the center of this life. Surrounded by his family, he went home peacefully to be with the Lord on October 15, 2015.
