BERNIECE DEWEE HOWELL
1925 - 2008
Berniece Dewee Howell, 83, of Taft, California, died at her home on Wednesday, December 24, 2008.
Berniece was born in Stratford County, Oklahoma, on June 14, 1925, to Joseph and Marilda Cottrell. She was one of 12 children. Berniece came to Lompoc in 1960 from Roff, Oklahoma, and moved to Taft in 1991 after 31 years in Lompoc. She was a member of the Valley of the Flowers Half Century Club and was a life-long homemaker. She loved Bingo, taking care of her grandchildren, and gardening.
Berniece is survived by her son, William Duane Howell of Taft, daughters and their husbands, Bevelee and Charles Adkins and Patsy Ann and Bruce Nix, all of Lompoc, 13 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Berniece was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1985.
A visitation will be held at noon on Friday, January 2, 2009, in the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The funeral service will be held at 1 pm. Burial will follow the services at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Half Century Club.
