Elizabeth "Betty" Clark, 74 years old, from Lompoc, passed away on Wednesday March 5, 2008, in Lompoc after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family.
Betty was born the youngest of 12 children on the family farm in Lompoc in 1933 to Vincenzo and Rene Bonzani. She attended Lompoc Valley schools and remained a life-long Lompoc resident.
Betty worked as a waitress for many years at local restaurants including the Rickshaw, Hi's, Trade Winds, and the Purple Cow. She retired as a food service worker with the Lompoc Unified School District.
Betty was active for many years as a member of the Disabled American Veterans Women's Auxiliary, serving as President of the Lompoc Unit. Betty and her husband Gordon, loved to travel the United States by motor home and did so until her health began to fail.
Betty is survived by her husband of 34 years, Gordon W. Clark of Lompoc; a daughter Pam Mercer of Lompoc; a son Mike Dodson of Anchorage, Alaska; and son and daughter-in-law Don and Judi Dodson of Lompoc. She is also survived by seven grand children: Don Dodson Jr., of Henderson, Nevada; Kristin Dodson-Ahrens of Mountain House, California; Jay Dodson of Anchorage; Cynthia Dodson-Deter of Plainville, Illinois; Jason Guerrero, Steven Mercer and Robert Mercer all of Lompoc; and four great-grand children: Jenna, Kati, and Mason Ahrens; and Elaina Deter. Additionally, Betty leaves behind two siblings, John Bonzani of Lompoc, and Lucy Zarensky of Newport News, Virginia, plus many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her first husband Tommy Dodson; daughter-in-law Debbie Dodson; and son-in-law Ron Mercer.
A memorial service was held in the dining room of Lompoc Skilled and Rehabilitation Center of Lompoc on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 10:00 am. Cremation will be followed by an interment service on Tuesday, April 2, 2008 at 11 am the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Her family will host a celebration of her life following the interment.
