BETTY CARENE HUME
1930 – 2012
Betty Carene Hume passed away on January 10, 2012, at the Comprehensive Care Center in Lompoc at the age of 81. She was born on March 25, 1930 to Peter and Hazel Gresli in Portland, Oregon.
Betty was a graduate of the Gresham High School Class of 1948 and was the Oregon State Baton Champion that same year. Betty was an ace skier and a member of the Mount Hood Ski Patrol. She also won trophies in skeet shooting. She loved her dogs, and enjoyed raising and showing Airedale Terriers. She managed Multnomah Falls Lodge with her husband from 1958 to 1977. Most of all, she loved her role as "Grandma."
Betty moved to Lompoc in 1994 from Vancouver, Washington to live with her daughter Charlene, son-in-law John, and grandchildren Bradley and Ashley. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Lompoc Hospital Auxiliary.
Betty is survived by her daughters Charlene Eurick of Lompoc, California and Colleen Walker of Vancouver, Washington, beloved son-in-laws John Eurick and Mark Walker, grandchildren Bradley and Ashley, sister Sally Richardson of Portland, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her sister Ilene Dupont preceded her in death.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
