1924 – 2008
Betty Lockhart of Lompoc died Monday, August 25, 2008 at the age of 83.
She was born December 28, 1924 to Charles and Florence Smith in Delta, Colorado. She later graduated from Delta High School. She met her husband Russell "Durke" Lockhart in Colorado Springs. As the wife of an Air Force serviceman she lived in many parts of the country and the world including Guam and Morocco. She enjoyed traveling especially trips to Russia and Alaska.
A resident of Lompoc since 1968 she enjoyed bridge and was active with her husband's military activities. She was also a volunteer for Lompoc's Flower Festival Association.
Her husband Colonel Russell Lockhart preceded Betty in death in 1999. She is survived by her stepson and his wife Barton and Rita Lockhart of Rawlins, Wyoming, stepson James Lockhart of Tustin, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ed and Lela Jo Lockhart of Delta, Colorado, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Her many friends and family will miss her for her smile and sense of humor.
No local services will be held. Cremation will be followed by private inurnment at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
