Betty Jean Field Mankins of Lompoc died Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the age of 83.
Betty was born May 6, 1931, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas to Roy and Bernice Slane. She was raised and educated in Rupert, Idaho. She married Pastor Lyle Field and together they ministered at The Cathedral of Light in Selma, California for many years. After his death she married John Mankins of Lompoc.
A resident of Lompoc since 1995, Betty was a member of The New Life Christian Church. She was a true saint in every sense of the word. As a pastor's wife and church pianist she lived an exemplary Christian life of love and service to others.
Betty is survived by her husband of 14 years John Mankins, her son David (Lynn) Field of Arroyo Grande, daughter Barbara (Pastor Doug) Conley of Lompoc, sons Paul (Lorna) Field of Selma and Phillip (Benita) Field of Visalia, her sister JoAnn (Glen) Houghton of Vancouver, Washington, 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 29, at 11am in the Valley Life Community Church, 3200 McCall Avenue in Selma followed by interment in the Selma Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Lompoc at the New Life Christian Center on Saturday, November 1, at 10am.
