It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Betty Mae Palmer, 89, of Lompoc. She died Wednesday, October 31, 2013 at the Comprehensive Care Center.
Betty was born July 31st 1924, in Rochester, New York where she also attended local schools. Betty was a member of Alpha Club, Meals on Wheels, Lompoc Art Society, and the Elks Lodge. Betty and Don met on a blind date. They fell in love, and then he went to serve in the Army overseas for 3 years and 4 months. She waited for him and they married as soon as he got back. In comparing pictures, they discovered she sat next to him in their kindergarten picture. They were married 67 years. That's longer than either of their parents lived.
She is survived by her loving husband Don; two sons, Jeff and David and grandchildren Braden and Maureen.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 16th at Peace Lutheran Church ELCA, 1000 West Ocean Ave. in Lompoc.
Private inurnment will be at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
