Betty L. Williams passed away peacefully at home on August 18, at the age of 71. Betty had been a resident of Lompoc since 1959, and had been battling cancer for the last ten years. She retired from the Lompoc Unified School District as Classified Personnel Director in 2005 after 25 years of service. She was very active in the Lompoc Elks Lodge as a three-time president of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary. She also spent much time as a volunteer for the Lompoc Relay for Life organization.
Betty is survived by her husband Tom, sons Donald Chinn and wife Susan, Derek Chinn and wife Christie of California, son Ronald Chinn and wife Kunsoon who live in Korea, Ronald's children Brandon, Justin, Heather, of Utah and Shannon who resides in Texas, Ronald's two grandchildren, Kyra, and William, brother John Sumrall and wife Beverly, sister Cindy Hill all residing in Jackson, Miss., and nieces Amanda and Hayden of Southern California
Those who knew her will remember her bright smile, positive attitude, unlimited energy, and her willingness to help anyone, and any cause she believed in. She had many friends in Lompoc and elsewhere, and will be missed by all.
Services for our Betty will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Starbuck- Lind Mortuary in Lompoc at 1:00 P.M. A reception will follow immediately at the Lompoc Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Marian Home Care and Hospice, C/O Marian Medical Foundation, 1400 East Church Street, Santa Maria 93454.
