Betty Jo Work
1925-2009
Betty Jo Work, 83, died May 27, 2009. She was the daughter of Walter and Myrtle Dowden, born in Howard County, Indiana on June 17, 1925.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale M. Work; two brothers, Darrell and Wilbur Dowden; three sisters, Bertha Bogue, Catheryn Tygart and Eileen Murphy; a grandson, grandson Matthew Work; a son, Dale M. Work Jr.; and a foster daughter, Sandra Mendiola.
Betty is survived by her children: Pamela Work Aissaoui of New Hampshire, William R. Work of Fresno, George A. Work and Edwin G. Work, both of Lompoc. She left behind 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, two foster grandsons and many nieces and nephews across the country. She also leaves a foster son, Andrew Dolchok of Arizona.
She enjoyed her family and friends throughout the years. In recent times, she occupied herself crocheting afghans and sewing patchwork comforters.
She was blessed with a wonderful family and many friends in this life. Betty is greatly loved and will be missed by all.
A funeral service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Monday, June 1st at 10a.m., with Pastor Joe Bryd presiding. Internment will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
