Bettye Lou Ouimette, 77 of Lompoc, lost her courageous 18-year battle with cancer, peacefully, on March 25, 2010.
Bettye was born to Margaret Peterson and Charles Franklin Scherzer at their home on Sunday March 12, 1933. She attended school in Harrah, Oklahoma.
Bettye married Wayne Ouimette on April 2, 1950 in Yuma, Arizona. They made their home in Leadville, Colorado before moving to Lompoc after the birth of their son John in 1958.
Bettye was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Ouimette, sons Lee and John Ouimette, brothers George and Charles Scherzer, and sisters Helen Maine and Mary Margaret Scherzer.
Bettye is survived by brother-in-law Walt Ouimette and wife Fran of Lompoc, California; sisters Dorothy Conley of Edmond, Oklahoma and Karen Jones of Sonoma, California; also Sheri and Gib Hullinger and Yvonne and Stan Young of Lompoc, California, and Vickie and John Cullinan of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She leaves 11 Grandchildren, 9 Great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and family friends.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the Lompoc Comprehensive Care Center for the outstanding care given to her in her final days.
A memorial service will be held on April 17, 2010 1 p.m. at the Riverview Church of God, 1000 North Seventh Street in Lompoc.
