Obituary

Beverly Wildish passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, in Lompoc, CA.  She was born in Canton, Ohio on April 29, 1936, to Walton Wilbur and Martha Jane Bowers.

Early in her working career, Beverly worked for Van de Kamp's in Southern California, in the bakery department.  She used to bring chocolate eclairs home to her family, which they loved.  Later, because of her office skills, she became an Administrative Assistant at Welch's Uniform Supply.  Beverly had a shining career in real estate as an agent with Century 21 Foothill in Monrovia, CA.  Looking for a slower pace of life away from the environs of Southern California, she took courses in medical transcription, moved to Lompoc, CA., and began her own medical transcription business called Copy Cats, where she worked from home with several employees.

While living in Lompoc, she became interested in art and her family discovered that she had a great talent for putting what she saw on canvas.  She worked in acrylics, charcoal, and colored chalk.  She had a love for the work of other artists as well and collected many pieces which she proudly displayed in her home.

She loved to travel and had made trips to Mexico, Canada, and the Panama Canal.  Her most outstanding trip was traveling to Australia and New Zealand as one of two passengers on a container ship, for which her relatives thought she was crazy, but she loved that trip dearly.

When Beverly retired from medical transcription, she had the desire to give back to her community in a volunteer capacity.  She chose to tutor ESL classes in various venues in Lompoc working with the Literacy Council.  Eventually, those classes moved to her private home and she taught students multiple times per week, exposing them to fluency in the English language and culture.  She had a great relationship with her students, and she really missed meeting with them after numerous years as a group.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Liz Elkins, of Southern California; a sister, Susan Curtis of Santa Maria; a sister-in-law, Nancy Bowers of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children, all in California and Arizona.  Also surviving her is her beloved Bichon, Tuffy.  At her request, no services will be held.
