BILLIE J. BARRON
1925 – 2008

Billie J. Barron of Lompoc passed away Friday, December 5, 2008 at the age of 83.

Billie was born March 17, 1925 to Opal and Joe Barron in Little Rock, Arkansas. At an early age his family moved to Southern California where he was raised and educated. After attending Van Nuys High School he served in the United States Army as a medical technician during World War II.

A resident of Lompoc since 1963, Bill was employed as a clerk with the U.S. Bureau of Prisons for over 20 years. After his retirement he was a volunteer with the Regional Occupation Program with the local high schools teaching students about computers. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as the bishop of the Lompoc First Ward from 1975 to 1980 and in many other capacities.

Bill is survived by his wife of two years Patricia Barron of Lompoc, his daughter Rebecca Sims of Santa Maria, his sons and their wives Gary and Lorraine Barron of Apple Valley, Jeffry and Dana Barron of Rancho Cucamonga, and Eric and Christine Barron of Ontario, California, his father's widow, Wilma Steele, 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Barron in 2006 and his son Dennis Barron in 1946.

The funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at 11 am in the chapel of the Lompoc Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1312 West Prune Street in Lompoc, preceded by one hour of visitation. Interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
