BILLY JACK BOHARD, SR.
1927-2008
Jack Bohard, 80, of Paso Robles, died Friday, February 15, 2008 at Twin Cities Hospital in Templeton after suffering a stroke. His wife Magnola, daughter Sharon, and nieces Nancy and Anna were at his bedside when he passed.
Jack was born May 2, 1927 to Jefferson and Kitty (Cunningham) Bohard in Hamilton, Kansas. On Jack's 27th birthday, May 2, 1953, he married his love, Magnola Lucille Sharp of Morris, Oklahoma. They had two children and made their home in Morris, Oklahoma on Watson Ranch. In June 1957, they moved, along with Jack's parents, to California. Once in California, Jack worked various jobs at cattle ranches, turkey and chicken farms, dairies, and horse ranches. He finally settled down to his last home in Paso Robles in February, 1992, and retired from cattle ranching last year.
His greatest loves were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack enjoyed horses and team penning with grandsons Mike and John Stamper. He was still riding horses and team penning up until his death.
Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Magnola, daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Buck Barker of Lompoc, son Billy Jack Bohard, Jr. of Paso Robles, as well as four grandchildren – Mike Stamper and fiancé Debra Carter, John Stamper and wife Kiersten of Lompoc, Kittie Tuckey of Templeton and Billy Jack Bohard, III of Chico. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren – Colton Tuckey of Paso Robles, Haley Dunavent, Shianne, Luke, Chance and Cody Stamper, all of Lompoc, and two nephews he considered sons, Joe and Jeff Leonard. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. in the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel in Lompoc.
A benefit Team Penning in honor of Mr. Bohard will be held at the Branquinho Ranch in Los Alamos on March 2, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. There will be a bbq, 50/50 drawing, and silent auction. Everyone is welcome to attend.
