Billy (Bill) Charles Hunt of Lompoc died on Thursday, February 5, 2015. He was born in Coalgate, Oklahoma, on April 15, 1933, to Carl and Eva Hunt. Bill married Margaret Alice Randolph on July 4, 1951, and they later added a son, Gregory Charles Hunt, and a daughter, Jeanette Eve Hunt, to the family.
Bill served his country in the United States Navy (BMSN) and sailed on the James C. Owens DD-7666. He was a Korean War veteran who served from August 1951 to August 1955. He was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal (with star), and the United Nations Service Medal (Domain of the Golden Dragon-Latitude 28.46/Longitude 180.00).
Bill and Margaret moved to Lompoc in 1956, and he worked as a maintenance mechanic for Johns-Manville for 25 years.
Bill was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Margaret of Lompoc; his son Gregory Hunt of Eufaula, Oklahoma; his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Larry Coolidge of Clearfield, Utah; his grandchildren, Donald Charles Hunt of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Beth Alice Hunt Pierce of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; and Meriah Rene Smith of Clearfield, Utah. He is also survived by special cousins, Eric Randolph and Lynnette Bass of Lancaster, California.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A Street, Lompoc, California. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at 10 am at the Lompoc Church of Christ, 138 North O Street, Lompoc, California. Following the services, interment will follow at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
