Obituary

Bobby Glenn Thomas, age 79 of Lompoc entered into eternal rest on Tuesday February 10th 2015. He was born to the late Logan Thomas and Troy Mae Olson on May 22nd 1935. Bobby was originally from Wynnewood Oklahoma, he had relocated to Lompoc and enlisted in the United States Navy and specialized in Crane Operating. He had 25 Years of Military Service with a tour of duty spent in Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield in 1990-91 at age 56. During those years he traveled and was stationed at many places such as Guam, Japan, Italy, Alaska and much more. He also worked for CES on VAFB for Civil Service for a few years. After retirement Bobby decided to join the Operators Union in 1997 at the age of 62 and worked with Ace Engineering as a Project Manager for a few years. Shortly after Bobby went to work at the Lodge of Lompoc, a retirement home as a maintenance man. At age 70 Bobby finally decided to fully retire and enjoy his time at home. During his lifetime you could find him playing bass guitar in different bands over the years, making his rounds around town visiting friends and family including the friends and residents of the retirement home he worked at. He loved to take long drives, work on projects around the house, and run errands on his honey do list from his wife. He had married Rachael Thomas in May of 1980 and with doing so opened his heart to her 3 children and many grandchildren after. He was an amazing step-father and grandfather and to two of the oldest grandchildren a father figure they are forever grateful for. Bobby's heart was full of life and he always thought of others first. You would could find him almost daily in some store picking up something sweet for his wife whether it be a new book, her favorite candy, and occasionally a piece of jewelry or two. He was full of surprises and full of life you could write a book on his sayings and jokes he had. One of Bobby's favorite sayings was "Patience and Perseverance" and he actively lived by those words. There aren't enough words to explain the impact this one man had on so many but one thing can be said is that he was truly inspirational and will never be forgotten. We love you Papa always and forever. Bobby is survived by his wife Rachael Thomas, sister Kathleen Landry (Mark) Sons Bobby Thomas and Joe Thomas, Daughter Annette Marvin (Bill), Daughter Elizabeth Velasquez, Grand Children Jarrod Velasquez (Carly), Rachelle Martinez, Elle Thomas, Anna Thomas, Taylor Marvin, Whitney Marvin, Cody Marvin, Courtney Marvin, Jacob Velasquez, and Great granddaughter Daisy Mae Martinez and his beloved dog Bella Thomas.
