Bryan Robert Manfrina, age 34, died suddenly in Lompoc on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007. of complications from cancer. He was born in Lompoc the 18th of July, 1973 to Robert and Jan (Wied) Manfrina. He graduated from Lompoc High School with the Class of 1991.
Bryan trained in the restaurant business while still in high school, working at the Lompoc Valley Club under the direction of Sissy Gil, who was at that time the Valley Club's gourmet chef. From there he worked at various hotels in San Diego, Seattle and New York, including Le Meridian, Torrey Pines, Hilton, Four Seasons, and finally the past 5 years for Fess Parker at his Wine Country Inn in Los Olivos, at the Wine Cask and Restaurant Marcella.
Bryan's favorite pastimes were music, either listening to or playing his guitar, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, his sister Deena Manfrina of Rancho Bernardo, San Diego; his grandparents Myra and Walt Manfrina, his step grandfather Reginald Lindsey, all of Lompoc; and step grandmother Peggy Wied of Sumner, WA; uncle Barry [and Debbie] Manfrina, aunt LeAnn [and Tim] Woolever, of Lompoc; uncle Scott [and Cindy] Lindsey, of Brentwood; two aunts, Shelly Shields, in WA, and Charlotte Holzworth, of Montana, and a great many cousins.
Bryan was preceded in death by his grandfather Albert Wied; grandmother Alyce Lindsey, uncle Dennis Wied and cousin Carol Wied.
A Celebration of his Life will be take place at the "Old Lompoc Valley Club" , where he got his start as a "fine dining server", located upstairs in the Lilley Building, 107 N. H Street on Sat. Dec. 22, 07 from 1 to 4 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to Lompoc Valley Historical Society, P O BX 88, Lompoc CA 93438, or to a favorite charity.
