Vigil services for Evodio "Buddy" Zapien Rodriguez will 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with Msgr. John Fitzgerald officiating. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
A native of Lompoc, Mr. Rodriguez was born August 4, 1937 to John and Frances Hernandez Rodriguez. Buddy worked as a painter for Johns Manville for 20 years, and in 1979 started his own painting business and worked until recently. His favorite pastimes included spending time with his family at various sporting events, fishing, playing cards, and cooking.
He died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Lompoc Hospital.
Survivors include his daughters; Linda McNamee and husband David, Kathy Marmolejo and husband Muchie, both of Lompoc; son, Tito Rodriguez of Lompoc; brother, John Rodriguez, Bob Hernandez, Jerry Hernandez, Donald Hernandez, Joe Delira, and Richard Delira; grandchildren, Casey McNamee, Derrell McNamee, Michael Rodriguez, Keldon Marmolejo, and Cheyenne Marmolejo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo Rodriguez and Frank Hernandez; and sisters, Virginia Talavera and Blanche Hernandez.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to a favorite youth sports league.
Visitation hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
