Burnham Henry Truman of Lompoc died Monday, October 15, 2007, at the age of 91
B.H. was born December 25, 1915 to Henry and Maude Truman in Highmore, South Dakota. After graduating from the Highmore High School in 1935 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. After serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a radio operator he joined the Coast Guard. He later served in the National Guard.
Formerly of Lake Havasu, Arizona, B.H. moved to Lompoc in 1962 to take a job with the Lompoc Record selling advertising. He was a member of the American Legion and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of the Lompoc Campers and the Rocking Squares square dancers.
B.H. is survived by his wife of 62 years Barbara Lee Truman of Lompoc; sons, Barney Lee Truman and his wife Jeanne, and Dale Henry Truman; daughters Victoria Truman-Bates, and Jeni Eudelle Kostic; eight grandchildren, Shelly, Suzanne, Sean Butler, Krista, Melissa, Shara, Jacob and Portia; four nephews and four nieces. His grandson Dorian preceded him in death.
The graveside funeral service will be on Friday, October 19, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
