Carl A. (Campos) Watkins

June 28, 1936 – July 13, 2023

Carl A. (Campos) Watkins passed away on July 13, 2023, from heart disease.  He was born in Pomona, California on June 28, 1936, where he grew up.  Carl married the love of his life Doris G. Watkins; they were married for 28 years.  Prior to his death, he gave his heart to the Lord.  Carl was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Esther Higdon.  He raised and loved his children; Scott Watkins, Toni Bak, and Teri Ryan, and his stepson Robert Ortiz, whom Carl grew to love and respect along with his many grand and great-grandchildren.  He belonged to the American Legion Post 211 for 48 years and the Lompoc Elks #2274 for 28 years. Carl graduated from the University of La Verne with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Carl served his country in the United States Airforce for 20 years and retired as TSgt from July 1955 – July 1975.  He will be greatly missed.

Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 12:30 – 4 p.m. at the American Legion Post 211 in Lompoc.   Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
