Obituary

Carol Ann Chavarria

March 1964 - February 2012

Carol Ann Chavarria passed away at her home in Mission Hills surrounded by her family and friends on February 24th after a long bout with cancer. Though gone too soon at the age of only 47, Carol will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who have been fortunate enough to know her over the years.

Those who knew Carol will remember her as a loyal and compassionate friend with a great sense of humor that enriched the lives of those around her. Even in her waning days, it was these traits that were most prevalent as she continued to make us smile and laugh with stories of old experiences while still making new ones.

Born in Lompoc to William and Elizabeth Smith, she grew up attending La Mesa Elementary, Vandenberg Middle School, and graduated from Cabrillo Senior High School in 1981 before continuing her education at Allan Hancock College. She then spent the next several years working locally for AMC and Gore, and was employed at Dupont in Goleta at the time of her passing.
When time allowed, Carol enjoyed escaping to Disneyland, Hyrule, and Las Vegas. The hostess and life of many get-togethers, Carol has always been a beacon for living life to the fullest. She lived by the motto "Live Live Live. Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!" and has brought so much to the table over the years, that now, even with her gone, we may continue to enjoy the fruit of her spirit.

Carol is survived by her husband of twenty five years, George C. Chavarria, her step son Joseph Chavarria (Misty) and their children Amber and Aiden, her father William P. Smith Jr., brother Patrick Smith, sister Donna E. Smith, nephews: Scott Measley, Jacob, Matthew, and Theodore Smith; Michael, Nicholas, Brennen, Cameron, and Marshall Stevens, numerous great nieces and nephews; and her dog Roxy. She is preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth A. Smith and her dog, Rudy.

Carol was very loving and dedicated, and will be greatly missed.
