Obituary

Carol Ann Hubert was born on January 8, 1943 to Lois and Charles Garnsey in Glens Falls, New York. Carol passed away quietly at her home on March 24, 2012

Carol is survived by her children and their spouses, Tony Hubert and Renee Miranda, Chris and Sara Hubert, Michelle Hubert, Mark Hubert and Laura Larios-Hubert, and Steve Hubert as well as her beloved grandchildren, Steven, Ellie, Andrea, Carlos, Michael,Caleb, Elliot and Emily. She is also survived by her brother Chuck Garnsey of Ojai. My mom held a special place in her heart for her inherited family, daughter, Christy Keener and her sons Tony Garcia and Nick Keener. As well as her other inherited grandchildren, Ashley Jackson and her siblings, and Nathaniel George. Once mom loved you, you were a part of her heart. Carol also cared about her numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews scattered throughout the states.

Carol is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Richard Hubert, an infant son, Ronald Dean Hubert, brother Owen Etheridge, father Charles Melvin Garnsey, and her mother Lois Etheridge.

Carol's life revolved around taking care of her grown children, enjoying seeing her grandchildren grow up, and making sure we were taken care of with lots of gifts. Her life was us....and she was a very special woman with an endless amount of generosity and love in her heart. She strived to make sure that we all had everything that we needed and we are all touched greatly by her loving spirit.

Carol had worked at Wal-Mart for the last 12 1/2 years where she was usually stationed over in the cigarette corner. My mom loved that corner, considered it her own, kept it stocked, and knew the preferred cigarette brands of most of Lompoc's customers. Her Wal-Mart friends and customers were her other family. She considered many of her fellow employees her good friends. People came into Wal-Mart in search of her and she probably knew over half of Lompoc by name by her years there and her other jobs throughout the Lompoc valley through the years: The A & W, Santa Barbara News Press, Tony's Market, Avenue Flower Shop, 7-11, and Don's Market. Wherever she worked, carol was a dedicated employee and prided herself on her job.

Carol spent most of her early years growing up in Santa Barbara and later came to Lompoc in the 1950's with her family. She attended both Santa Barbara and Lompoc High School where she originally met her husband Richard. They met again in the 1960's while mom worked at A & W, and spent the rest of their years together raising their five children until Richard's passing in 1999.

A remembrance of Carol's life will be held at the Starbuck-Lind Chapel on Saturday March 31st, at 10:30 a.m. Mom had a deep faith in the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." She lived that life and strived to be a good person, forgiving of all, and kind to friends and strangers alike. We all were silently touched by Carol's quiet determination, grit, dedication, loyalty, and generosity and her big heart. She will be missed greatly by those who knew her.
