IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Jean
Minor
February 24, 1941 – November 10, 2018
Carol Jean Minor of Lompoc, California, a beloved Mom, Nana, Sister, Aunt, a friend…and to many, just simply known as "Nana," passed away from her third battle with cancer on November 10, 2018. Carol was born on February 24, 1941, to Carl and Dorothy Furmanski in Santa Cruz, California, and passed away with her loving family by her side.
For many years, Carol worked for orthodontist, Dr. Wendell Cotton, and then Dr. John Mosby until her retirement.
Family and friends knew her as Nana, and she was loved by many. Family was most important to Carol. Her two daughters were her top priority in life. As a single parent, Carol gave her girls everything that mattered in life…the yearly camping trips, those long, long road trips to visit family, and those memorable visits to the beach. When her perfect daughters grew up, they would return the favor and make new memories by taking Carol wine tasting (her favorite thing to do), on a cruise and a few road trips. Carol was known for her amazing taco salad and deviled eggs at all the family gatherings. As much as she loved her perfect daughters, the grandchildren and great grandchildren were most precious to her. They always brought a smile to her face. Carol loved taking care of her grandkids and later in life, her great grandchildren. When her grandson Diego was little, she took him to see the "Wiggles" in concert. Nana was always at Chelsea and Ashley's soccer games and was a trooper sitting through the clarinet recitals. She was proud to watch Austin's skills on the motocross track, and Derek work his magic on the basketball court. Before, during and after her battle with cancer, she hade been doing her "Nana" duties, taking care of her great grandson Aiden, until she could no longer care for him. The short time she had with Brody, Aaliyah and Kash always put a smile on her face.
Carol is survived by her sisters Debbie (Jay) Johnson, Rhonda Furmanski, brother Martin (Rene) Furmanski, daughters Karen Cox of Lompoc, Kathy (Alex) Cavanillas of Arroyo Grande, grandchildren Chelsea Cox of Lompoc, Ashley (Eric) Marquez of Orcutt, Derek Chaves of Lompoc, Austin (Malia) Cox of Lompoc, Diego Terrones of Arroyo Grande, great grandchildren Aiden Cox of Lompoc, Brody, Aaliyah and Kash Marquez of Orcutt, son-in-law Kevin Cox of Lompoc, Jesse and Linda Chaves and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be on November 24, 2018, from 1 to 4 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A Street, Lompoc.
