Services for Carola M. Heidt, 78, of Lompoc, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with Pastor Bernie Federmann of Lompoc Foursquare Church officiating. Private burial will be at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
Carola (Kitty) was born April 3, 1930 in Grampian, Pennsylvania to Herbert and Celia Ellinger. Kitty and Leonard (Bruce) were married on September 14, 1946. They moved their family from Melbourne, Florida to Lompoc in 1967. For 15 years, she owned and operated Heidt's Book Exchange in Lompoc. Kitty especially enjoyed meeting all the people that came into the bookstore and she always took great pleasure in recommending and discussing a good book. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 211. Her favorite pastimes were reading and crocheting.
Kitty died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at her home.
Survivors include her daughter, Tonyia Bridges of Sedalia, Missouri; sons, Gerald Heidt and Harry Heidt, both of Lompoc and Wayne Heidt of Sun City, Calif.; sister, Josephine Bennett of Lompoc; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce in 2008.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Marian Home Care and Hospice, 504 Plaza Drive, Santa Maria, CA 93454.
