Carolyn Cain was born in Oklahoma and was the oldest out of 11 siblings. Her family moved to Ventura, where she graduated from High School and met and married her first husband, Gene Travis. The couple moved to Los Alamos, then Lompoc, where they had their 4 children: Gene Jr., Wayne, Dale, and her only daughter, Cindy (who shared the same birthday as her mother).
Carolyn separated from her first husband and married Jack Cain in 1981. Carolyn worked as a hairstylist in Lompoc for 32 years.
Our beautiful mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Carolyn was a source of love, comfort, and the glue that held our family together. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Carolyn's kindness and generosity touched the lives of so many and will forever be in our hearts.
She is survived by her son, Dale Travis, and her grandchildren: Matthew Willis, Joseph Willis, Jackie Travis, Jessie Travis, Crystal Travis, Bruce Travis, Danny Travis, Tanya Travis, and Elise Travis.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 am- 1:00 pm on January 14, 2026, with a service beginning at 1:00 pm, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A graveside service and burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life at Alfies Fish and Chips in Lompoc afterwards. We welcome those who join to bring a dish to share.
